Seth Bogart //Mondo Ceramica Blondo Sculpturo //Fierman

art

Seth Bogart, Stud Matchbook, (2023). Ceramic. 17h x 12w x 3 3/4d in.

Seth Bogart’s show at Fierman is fun and playful. The sculptures are the largest he has ever made and were part of a larger body of work commissioned by Meta. Bogart chose the title, referring to the Italian exploitation films of the sixties, to evoke a certain “campiness.” The oversized matchbox, perfume bottle, and manicured hand are at first glance fun and campy, but upon further inspection, they are a representation of queer life.
